|The "Team" Aspect
In an adventure race, you may choose to race as an individual, just as you would in a triathlon. Or, you may choose
to join up with your best friend (or friends), and share the whole once in a lifetime experience as a team! This is
another awesome and unique thing about adventure racing – the “Team” aspect of it.
When adventure racing as a team, the basic rules are simple – all members of the team must stay together at all
times, and all members must complete the entire course. The team has to move around the race course as a single
unit. Therefore, you are only as fast as your slowest member, and the number of members in your team does not
really serve as a significant advantage or disadvantage.
For this reason, the team divisions in Delmarva Adventure Sports races may be comprised of either 2, 3, or 4
people. We offer four different team divisions, which are:
- Coed Teams (must have at least one member of each gender on the team, can be 2, 3, or 4 people)
- Male Teams (must all be males, can be 2, 3, or 4 people)
- Female Teams (must all be females, can be 2, 3, or 4 people)
- Masters Teams (any gender configuration, but the average team member age on race day must be at least 40).
Teams who meet the age criteria to race in the Masters division also may elect to race in the Male, Female, or
Coed Division instead.
